Schools of thought concerning free will
libertarianism - we have free will and therefore can determine our future
no free will:
- fatalism (or pre-determinism) - the future is determined by fate; there is no way to change the outcome
- defeatism can a be consequence
- determinism - the future is determined by causality; there is no free will
- compatibilism - determinism and free will are compatible
